Our book club covered Maria Semple’s Where’d You Go Bernadette? a couple of years ago. Reviews were mixed but mostly positive. The novel is now being turned into a movie, and it appears this project is being taken seriously with able veterans being brought on board. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, who previously produced The Hunger Games movies and so know a bit about successfully adapting novels for the screen, are involved in reproducing Where’d You Go Bernadette? Richard Linklater, the genius behind Boyhood (highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it), is in discussions to direct, and Cate Blanchett is being wooed for the title character.
What do you think of Cate as Bernadette? I have high hopes.
