Haruki Murakami’s novel Kafka on the Shore received mixed reviews from our book club. Turns out not everyone is a fan of the author’s magical realism. But for those who are fans, check out a new Kickstarter project in which video game developers take inspiration from Murakami’s stories. A common theme in Haruki Murakami’s fiction is finding something that is lost (such as Nakata finding lost cats while Kafka searches for his mom and sister). In this Kickstarter video game Memoranda, you solve puzzles to help characters find what they have lost.
This blogger loves puzzles, but what is most intriguing about the project is the graphic style. Looks like it will be a great match for the surreal settings of a Murakami tale.
