NASA hopes to get mileage from The Martian

The_Martian_2014

Andy Weir’s novel The Martian, a story much loved by our book club, has been turned into a movie, which we all know debuts October 2nd. So it’s no surprise that we are seeing a lot of press coverage about the movie, novel, and the author Andy Weir. Also, of no surprise to probably anyone is that NASA is heavily involved in the movie project. I’m sure NASA is getting a lot of mileage out of this novel because Weir makes astronauts, space travel, and science in general, look so darn cool that he may be influencing a new generation to pursue a career in space while inspiring older generations to reinvest in space exploration. Can’t wait to see how Matt Damon brings MacGyver to Mars as Mark Watney.
